Merc 200 efi surging

I have a 2000 merc efi on a ranger bass boat. I have been chasing a problem with it for the past 4 years. The original problem was that when you were out on a very hot day once the motor got hot it would not take off. At full throttle it would on just come off idle. Once it was cooled off or first thing in the morning it was fine. After numerous repairs (rebuilt fuel pump, pulse pump, plugs, cleaned all screens, fuel filter) the mechanic believed it was a problem with the ecu (fuel driver inside). I removed it sent it to cal and had it rebuilt by simmonds motorsports. According to them these units do have issues over time and they rebuild a lot of them. I got it back and motor seemed better but not completly. I did some more checking and found that over the last year the new gas (ethanol) had deteriorated one of the gas lines and clogged the fuel filter. I replaced all the lines from the tanks to the pulse pump and the fuel filer and it was running great! I winterized the boat and now this year it not running good again. Now its surging badly when you push the throttle down quickly however if you push it slowly it will take off but not the way it should.

Any help you can give me would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Check your fuel pressures.

Thank you for the tip. I checked the pressure in my yard at the quick connect and its at 36. I am going to try to attach a gauge to it and put it on the water and monitor it through from takeoff up.

I noticed while I was working on it today that the high pressure pump was really quiet. I used to be able to hear it with the cover on the motor no problem and with the cover off I actually had to go to the back of the boat to hear it run. Has anyone had this happen? If so was there something wrong?

Thanks
