Got a free motor today at shop. 200 merc. 20 hp. Serial # 4105221
Looked at it about 10 mins. Before closing shop. It's hung up in forward gear. I can move shift lever on starboard side and see gear turn gear on vertical shift shaft and can feel detent. I've looked at diagram breakdown.
Can't tell if (at top of shift shaft. at powerhead) if that gear has a roll pin.?
And really couldn't tell how shift shaft connects to cam lever.in lower unit.
If anyone has what the culprit is . would like to know and appreciate any advice. THANKS. Haven't done a compresion ck. yet. It does have a new red flywheel , stator coils and a red ignition coil. Like said only looked at for a few mins. And these are before my time. Thanks.
