I WENT TO THE LOCAL MARINA AND THE MECHANIC SUGGESTED AN ALUMINUM 17 PITCH PROP TO REPLACE MY 21 PITCH SS ONE.ALSO WHEN RUNNING THE MOTOR A 1979 MERC 150 V-6 THE PROP SPINS IN REVERSE AT A SLOW SPEED ANY WAY TO ADJUST THE CABLE ON THE SHIFTER.THANKS TO GRAHAM FOR ALL HIS WISDOM I DONT FEEL TO INADEQUATE WHEN YOU EXPLAIN THINGS FOR US NEW GUYS.TACH MAXES AT 6000

"6000 is a little high, not good for long runs. the prop is just free spinning with the oil thats moving around, nothing to adjust or worry about."

"Bill, you mentioned in your other post that while running the 21P your max rpm's were about 4200. This 17P should get that up by about 800 into the 5000 range which is in the low-mid WOT range for your motor.

You should also note an improved hole shot and your motor won't appear to labour as much..."
