I have been boatless for a few years and I am looking to buy another one. The boat I am interested in currently has a Merc 150 saltwater series engine. (according to current owner). The motor is not running perfectly and in need of possible minor repair. He says the compression is between 104 - 106 on all cylendars. Is that good? Bad? Ok? He has stated that the engine will start fine but as it is warming up, it will start missing. He said he believes it "may" be the stator. Has anyone had this experience before or any idea of possible issues? Sorry I don't have many details concerning the engine at this time.
