"I need to replace the waterpu

"I need to replace the waterpump in a merc 150 (15 hp 1960 model). I have found a impeller but having no manual, am having problem getting the old impeller out. I have removed teh lower unit, pushed out the shaft. Now it appears that I need to remove the shaft bearing that evidently is immediately below the impeller. Can anyone tell me if the bearing is locked in place with a jam nut, and is it a CW or CCW thread.

That is described by some as a "fun motor to work on" .Left hand thread on that collar according to my manual.
