I have been trying to find out why my 1978 115 Merc has no spark. I have been tracking the voltage from the wiring harness to the switch box. I have 12 volts at the switch box but it drops when the engine is cranked. I pulled the plug from the side of the motor and checked for voltage. It is getting 5-8 volts in the 5 small wire holes with the key off. With the key on the voltage increases to 12 volts in a few of the holes but stays 5-8 in the others. Is this normal? Has anyone had a similar problem with a Merc wiring harness? Any help or tips will be appreciated.
