"I have a 63 merc 110 that i am trying to make sure i have the right plugs. I called a local merc dealer and they could only go back to a 66 model. Can anyone tell me the correct NGK part # for my motor, Also they said that there was 2 plugs available, one was a gapable plug and the other was a non-gapable plug. is there any advantage or disadvantage to either one of these plugs."
 
Use only gappable plugs on mot

Use only gappable plugs on motors with CD ignition.

Plugs for a 64 Merc 110 (the first year built) is a Champion J8C or equivalent.

Tom you can use an NGK B6S gap

Tom you can use an NGK B6S gapped at .025" but would have originally came with a J8J (now J8C) Champion.

Jeff is probably thinking about another model. Yours will have a Phelon iginition system with points - so no advantage to running NGK plugs over the original Champions.

My earliest listing for the model 110 is 1962.

Correct! There was both a Merc 100 and a white Merc 110 in the 62-63 time frame. The BLACK Merc 110s started in 1964.

"OK, Guys I really apprecaite your assistance. and jeff i can see where you might think that. i looked at the link you sent and if you look at the 1960-63 models that is where my 110 is located. its kind of confusing because there not in order. the 110 is half way down the section."
