Merc 100hp fuel flow

I've posted asking for help diagnosing engine performance problems. The 100hp oil-injected model (4 cylinders) drinks lots of gas, but is exceedingly reliable.....when it runs correctly. For those interested, I have information to pass along. 1) Get to the check valve at the installed gas tank. The check valve has a ball and spring to not allow gas to flow back into the tank. Good idea, except when faulty, it also causes extra work for the fuel pump, and in my case starved the engine. I punched out the ball, and solved the problem. Gas now flows freely. New problem is the primer bulb must be vertical when pressing, otherwise the gas returns to the tank. 2) My local marina installed silver gas line from the tank to the motor, with the bulb in the middle. The silver tubing (USCG approved) has an inner core of a corn based sealer (no kidding!!) that gas will soften in no time, and it forms a plug where the line connects to anything (bulb, brass fitting, connector to motor). Motor repeatedly stopped....COLD. Upon examination, the silver tubing easily crimps (ie restricts the flow), and progressively builds up a plug, that if allowed to stay will clog jets. A word of caution: USE BLACK, USCG APPROVED GAS LINE. It will last years, not crimp, and allow the maximum amount to gas to go through. My 2 cents.
