"I removed the exhaust manifold and reservoir from my 1986 3.7-170hp engine. I see what looks like melted rubber or plastic on a pin in the exhaust pipe below the manifold connection. I can't find any real information on this. I suspect it's to keep freshwater from entering the engine via the exhaust.(???) I had fresh water/rust in the back 2 exhaust ports. Can anyone tell me what this is exactly, and where do I find information and pics about this?"
