I have a 1982 Chris Craft Commander with fly bridge (dual helm stations). That being said I have two water temperature gauges for each engine.
My original gauges have blue and white graphics over black.
One of my water temp gauges (on fly bridge) was not working and with an ohm meter I found it showed an open.
I have looked for a couple of months for a matching gauge with no luck. I found a Medalion gauge with red and beige graphics over black -- so I bought it.
When I received it I found it was different-- it was deeper with different terminal placement etc. I managed to install it -- it works and shows what I believe to be the correct temp.
The problem is now my other (blue & white -- original) port water temp gauge on the lower station will NOW only register 100* when it should be showing 165 or so...
If I unhook the sender wire from the "new" gauge it original jumps up to approx 165 like it should.
Does this indicate an impedance issue between the two different era of temp gauge? or are there specific gauges for use on dual helm setups ... please advise
