"I am trying to start an MD-11C Volvo Penta that's in a sailboat. There is a pushdown (vertical) button just behind the cylinders and along side it is a lever that operates a plunger horizontally (fore and aft). When I push the button in, it stays in until I pull the lever aft which disengages the button (it pops back up). I believe this lever was connected to a wire-in-cable that went to the cockpit ending in a small handle just aft of the throttle. Anyone know what this button and lever do?"
