mariner/yamaha 55hp 2 stroke gearbox

can anyone help im looking for a replacement long shaft gearbox does anyone know what size of gearbox I can use 40 hp 50 hp or will a 60 hp gearbox fit from mariners kind regards

The lower units from either the 60 or 40 horse (was no 50) will not fit the 55.

The 55 Mariner (built by Yamaha for Merc) was it's own "beast" based on Yamaha's own model 55A which was built between 1974-79.

This particular model has been somewhat orphaned and virtually no parts are available through Merc. I don't know if Yamaha could help you out using their model parts (if they still exist, which was last built 35 years ago).

You didn't post where you are but would guess maybe "outside" North America.

This particular model was targeted at Asia/Europe/Australia and never took a foot hold in North America. If you live "elsewhere" you may be able to find old/used parts locally. If you live in N.A. you might have yourself a paperweight.
