I have a 50 hp, 1985 Mariner. I noticed recently that when I torque the engine (pulling kids on tubes) that the engine moves back at least an inch. I can also move it back and forth easily by hand. It appears that the shifting rod will but up against the shaft when I do this. Is this much play normal and I have never noticed it or is it excessive and I have a problem?
