Are the power heads for a 1978 and a 1986 Mariner 40hp interchangable? Does anyone out there know? I know they are different part numbers, but it looks like everything will bolt-up the same. The only things I see that are different are the '86 looks like it has a soft plug and it also has a larger surface to mount the magneto base to. I just want to know for sure.
