I'm new to boating and jus

I'm new to boating and just purchased a used Mariner Outboard engine. The only info I have is that motor is marked "2" in front and the ID plate reads "Mariner 2M" with a serial number of 6A1 019276. Can anyone tell me how to determine exactly what I bought so I can purchase a manual for it? Thanks in advance.

"Rick, that is a 1980, 2 horse built by Yamaha (for Mercury) and dressed as a Mariner. When looking for a repair manual (ie. Selocs) make sure it is for the Japanese built Mariners - they are different than the "Mercury" line of Mariners...

The 2M (model) simply equates to 2 horse "manual" or (rope) start..."
