mariner outboard fueling issue

I have an older mariner 8 hp 2 stroke sh shaft.( mid 80s ?)all in all runs well. But
I am having a fuel issue.
I was able to get fresh fuel up to the filter and into the carb.Motor pulls over great and runs with choke on full( idles pretty high)
When the choke is pushed in the motor dies shortly after. I noticed when the primer button( blue) is pressed fuel squirts out the small air hole on the side.
Am i right in thinking that the primer injecter needs sevice(new diaphram).Bad diaphram allowing air in fuel stream ,changing mix and loosing prime?
Also motor runs when choke lever is pushed in but primer button held down manually
Thanks

Is this an american built mariner? You need to clean and rebuild your whole carb. You have 2 problems a cracked primer diaphragm and a plugged idle circuit, and your fuel pump diaphragm is probably in the same condition.

ok I will clean and rebuild it. its serial od127109 which as far as i can see is model7008201AD from 1992. DONT KNOW IF ITS AMERICAN BUILD OR NOT.

So i rebuilt the injecter primer and solved the leak issue
same stall out issue after choke pushed in. So i will get the pump gaskets and rebuild that side.
The idle circuit you mentioned is that part of the pump side
thanks

Your idle circuit is part of the carb itself. You should have bought a complete carb kit would have had everything you need. Make.sure.ypu soak the carb and blow compresses air through all the holes.

ok
my marine supply guy told me the injector kit and the pump kit together was the same price as a full kit so try the primer first.Does that just leave needle valve and main jet ?
I did soak and compress air the passages including removing the TOP plate. I did notice the tube running up from the main jet isnt centered in where the jet threads in.
