Mariner 90hp wiring

Hi, On my Mariner 90hp 2 stroke outboard (2001 model) there is 2 wires in the engine compartment that is not doing anything. One is purple (has two plugs on it) and the other one is a brown wire. Any idea as to what it can be.

Put a voltmeter on the purple...see if it has 12 VDC. The brown wire MAY be for a temp gauge...not sure.
