I have a Belgium made Mariner with seriel nr. 9476700. Can you tell me wich year its made? And is it possible to get 15hp out of this engine? If so, how can i do that?

No, it has the 12.6 cube block so you are already pretty much at the top as far as horsepower is concerned. I have done one of these with a 15 horse carb AND exhaust plate/tube (the current merc parts list shows the carb going for 400 bucks and the plate/tube @ 100 bucks - that's about the 3/4's of the value of that particular model year), mostly to see if it could be done and while it ran fine with some tinkering there was "no noticeable" performance increase - it just doesn't have the displacement to significantly increase the torque.

In mid-1994 Merc started using the 15 horse block (16 cubic inches) as the 9.9 powerhead. Those can be converted to 15 horses.

Your model CAN be "detuned" to either a 6 or 8 horse model, but that's going the opposite way of what you are looking for :)
