Mariner 85hp Info needed and any help

Hello

I recently have gotten into boats and i have a small boat with a good motor on it, but i recently picked up a mariner 85hp motor for basically free not running.
I want to use it as a learning tool for boat motor repair (i am pretty experienced at rebuilding motorbike / car engines already)

So i am looking for any info on this motor (serial number is 4842983)
any info on that model, diagrams, where i can find any sort of manual, and/or a good wiring diagram

The motor isnt seized, can be hand cranked over (with plugs out) smoothly , apparently has been run for a few years as it was someone else's project
some of the wiring is undone and loose and the colors of the wires have faded (hence the need for a wiring diagram)

Would be interesting to see if i can get the old girl going again.

Can help you with the wiring diagram https://maxrules.com/oldmercs/Wiring/1966ona/80_85_5582561_BACK.gif .Your motor may say Mariner,but it's a Mercury painted grey.
I use the Seloc http://www.marineengine.com/manuals/seloc/mariner-outboard/seloc-marine-manual-1402.html mainly it's the one I bought when I got my first old Merc,thirteen or so years ago.It has tips that a factory manual will not have as the factory one assumes you know what you're doing.
The number makes it '77. Good luck with the auld dear,practically bulletproof
