Hi,

Can anybody please suggest a reason for my engine problem.

There are no problems when starting engine, or ticking over, but it seems to have a dead spot between low and high revs. It has been suggested that it may be the fuel problem, but not sure about that as it seems to run perfectly ok at low and high revs, but cuts out at middle revs.

Many thanks
Dave

That's when the carbs start to open. You'd be amazed at how much power the motor makes on spark advance alone. (My dink runs over 20 mph with the carbs shut.)

The usual reason is that the carbs are opening before they should (not yet enough spark advance). Try adjusting the linkage to open the carbs a bit later.
