Hi guys i have a mariner 60 2 stroke outboard its from the 80's i think. I started it the last day at the house before i left for the lake but when i arrived i could not get it to fire..... easy start petrol in the carbs nothing would work. it final fired up after about an hour of tinkering but when i stoped it to put the cover back on it would not start again and has not started since.

It has a spark (which could be weak)
It has compression on all cyclinders
and i have cleaned the carbs
But still nothing

Has anyone else had this problem or can anyone give me some advise please all ideas are helpful.

how old is the gas, fresh gas is important. Beyond that, fresh plugs, and when you cleaned the carbs, did you take them off and soak them or spray cleaner into them.

Check your grounds.Believe me,I've been there. There is a guy/"friend",when he see's me at the ramp.He takes steps, long ones, away from the ramp, slipway as we call it here

Needle valve changed?? Is there fuel pouring out of carbs??? Could be flooding if it starts after sitting for a while fuel evaporates then starts and floods no start hold throttle wot and try to start giving it more air when she start be sure to throttle down quick
