"Hi I just got hold of a mariner 40hp motor and was wondering if someone could give me the year it was built,
Model number is 40M 6E9 S 005945.
Shes a good little runner and im looking for service parts for her.

"Yes, definately a 1985 "C

"Yes, definately a 1985 "C" model Mariner built by Yamaha for Mercury.

Parts are available through Merc dealers or Yamaha dealers if you reference Yamaha models FM or FE which were produced between 1981-83 - this is a carbon copy of that model.

If looking for an aftermarket repair manual, you would need Seloc's manual for "Mariners" which will detail the Yami build, since this uses 100% Yamaha parts..."

"Timmy, this is a Yamaha built Mariner. You can get parts from a Mercury dealer using your serial or a Yamaha dealer if you reference their model 40FE or 40FM since this motor is a carbon copy of Yamaha's own 40 which was produced between 1981-83..."
