Mariner 40 HP, please help.

I have a 1997 Mariner 40ELPTO, 3 cylinder, 2 stroke. the engine has developed an intermittent misfire at idle but runs fine when I advance the throttle except it wont rev past half throttle. the motor has a new regulator/rectifier and recently cleaned, rebuilt carbs. this is a new problem, the engine was running fine a couple days ago. I would appreciate whatever you guys can offer.

Some will argue.----Start with posting actual compression values.-----Sounds like it is running on 2 of 3 cylinders.

compression is good, roughly 125 lbs acro0ss all three cylinders.

Check for a dead cylinder.

FORGET ABOUT THE MISFIRE AND TELL ME WHY MY ENGINE WONT REV PAST 3000rpm
