mariner 2hp hydrofoil/stabilizer

I have a 10ft 2man splash buster (basically a pond prowler except heavy) and it came with a 2HP mariner outboard. Are there any stabilizers/hydrofoils that wil help this little motor push my boat a little easier or at least help it when going through rolling waves? I know the boat is rated for a 5hp but this is what it came with, and i cant afford to buy a new motor. THANKS!

Agree, won't help. In fact anytime that a hydrofoil actually does help that's often a sign that the boat is improperly balanced, improperly trimmed etc.

There is one exception that I have personally found. When running in canal systems that have reduced speed limits (under 10 mph) the bow of the boat tends to ride quite high restricting forward visibility. In this case a 'foil (doelfin etc) really helps keep the nose down.

They do however, put significant stress on the cavitation plate (to the point of cracking them on many 1980's/90's Suzuki's in particular).

The bottom line really is - if these things worked as advertised, mfgs like BRP, Merc, Yami etc would cast gigantic cav plates on their motors...
