"hi my mariner 28 pull start t

"hi my mariner 28 pull start turns a half turn then becomes stuck, also there seems to be an ignition key and fuses for what looks like it needsz a battery. would this be true and is the the reason y the flywhell will not turn? any advice on both the above?

trying to remove the flywheel? i have removed the nut and washer through the middle but cannot remove the flywheel as there seems to be a bearing stopping it any advice on doing this?"

"I remember your problem, did

"I remember your problem, did you remove the sparkplugs and lower unit and it still wont turn? Or do you believe it to be something else. Forget about the wires, if the flywheel won't turn one revolution that engine is done.
The flywheel needs a puller attached to it to remove it. Perhaps some one else can offer more advise."

i have removed the spark plugs

i have removed the spark plugs and added grease left for several days and still no change. i have not yet removed the lower unit as you seemed to make it very clear i needed a manual and didnot want to offer me any more advice untill that point

"not the case at all, I felt y

"not the case at all, I felt you would need the manual for disassembly and part identification. Still here to help if I can, thus my interest in your progress. Lower could still be the problem but it doesn't sound good."

with plugs out try a flat h

with plugs out try a flat heavy bar on top of flywheel between the bolt heads and try turning clockwise not hard engough to break bolt heads if wont turn then its probably shot

the flywheel has now free up b

the flywheel has now free up but only unough to turn it a half turn then becomes solid again james

thats good progress... i wo

thats good progress... i would backup about a 1/4 of the free travel and heavly spray WD40 and let set for 24 hours and try again...

remmeber the water pump impeller normaly turns as the motor would be running so turning backwards may flip the fingers of the impeller
when all is free best to turn motor by hand in the direction it runs keep me posted

"In those plug holes you want

"In those plug holes you want to put Sea-foam !
let it sit overnight then add a lil more ,after a few soakings slowly turn the motor ...

If you get it to turn all the way add more sea foam to the holes and put the plugs in then pull starter to turn engine and force the sea foam into the rings and cylinders .
after doing this then (((())))) try to start engine.
run for a short time let sit and cool !
put a lil more sea foam in and just spin the engine over!
then again run it in short periods ,slowly getting back to a full run to clean out all of the sea foam !"

"avoid the sea foam .. at this

"avoid the sea foam .. at this point in what your trying to do.. sea foam is for removing carbon, etc.. when the carbon is broken loose can cause problems I think you have a rust problem and WD40 pentrates rust. sea foam can be used later, as Joe outlined..
solve one problem at a time!!"

"still no luck any other advic

"still no luck any other advice or is it time to give up and scrap it?
