" My Mariner 25 runs fine until I get to full throttle, then is revs up like it is out of gear, if I pull the throttle back, it "re engages"
and runns fine till I try to put it up into full throttle. This was with 4 in the boat.
When I tried to wind it out with just Me in the boat, it would not do it.
There is no grinding or other "gear noises"
It is like something is slipping under a heavy load. It just started to do this, it was running fine for years.

It might be possible that you

It might be possible that you have 'spun' the hub in your prop? Or the prop might be the wrong pitch/size for the application and you are cavitating...?

It just started doing this last time out.
It does not come on gradual, just gets to a certian point and boom, the moter revs up and the boat looses foward thrust.
Is there a "satey" clutch in these engines ??
