"I have an optimax 200, 2001, engine starts and runs ok but after approx 10 mins and alarm goes off and the message THROTTLE DOWN comes up and the engine slows to a partial throttle setting, the engine has been serviced regularly in the uk but now in spain and they don't seem to have any idea! Thanks"

"A solid horn followed by an rpm reduction would indicate an overheat.

That model has two temp sensors, one in the port head and one in the compressor, but only the one in the head will cause an rpm reduction.

If the alarm is occuring at any rpm above idle, the troubleshooting would include the water pump, poppet valve, the sensor itself and possibly a restriction in the water channels."
