"I have just acquired a Mariner 2 stroke 4hp outboard with no manual. It is about 10 years old, it runs very well, but smokes profusely. I am running it at 50:1 gas/oil ratio, is this correct? Also
could anyone tell me the correct grade of gear oil to use and the recommended spark plug type? Serial no. is 9689727 or 19689727, this is a UK model. Thanks, Richard."

"I think that it is a lower ratio, because if it is "smokes profusely" Then it is burning way to much oil. I don't know what the exact ratio is though, but it isn't 50:1. For the gear oil it should be a 90 weight oil. Hope that helps."
