Hi Gurus,
On a recent fishing trip our 1986 Mariner 45 cut out on us and took 10 minutes to restart. When we tried to start the engine later to flush it, it simply wouldn't. There is plenty of fuel, I have replaced the plugs and the battery has plenty of juice in it. If i try to start it, the starter motor runs but the engine won't fire. The engine was oil injected but that was disconnected some years back and now we premix 50:1. I read in one of the other threads about guys checking that the plugs are sparking. Is this done by removing the spark plug connector and trying to start the engine? Furthermore, i noticed a small dark patch of oil below the engine but some of the threads say that its not worth worrying about. Any ideas? the fuel filter was fill, possible blockage?
replies much appreciated
Thanks
Jake
