mariner 150 hp 1983 v6 acceleration issues?

hello there, i have a 1983 mariner 150 hp, v6 that its giving me problems. the motor starts real good, but when accelerating the motor do not respond as it should, it sounds like if it has a misfire and then dies. it stays on in neutral and in the lowest acceleration, but if you crack it to much it dies. i took it to the mechanic and he clean the carbs he charge me $135.00 and nothing change, i took it back with him and he told me that he tought it would be the stator but he was not sure, so i took it back home. i took it to a pro shop and they gave me an estimate of $650.00 dollars for the fixture, and they told me that the power packs (switch boxes) where damage!!!! i already clean the carbs 3 times, 2 times i clean them on my own and 1 time the mechanic clean them.

on 08/26/11 i clean the carbs again on my own and i remove the fuel pump on the motor, and i realized that the screen inside the fuel pump was damage (torn, dry) and i am thinking that this could be the problem to all this. maybe the carbs are getting too much gas from the hole in the gastek (screen) in the fuel pump, and i am guessing that maybe that could be the problem that the motor dies, smokes alot, and bad fuel odor. i already order the fuel pump kit, hopefully that should work!!!

any ideas, hints, tips, i will really appreciated very much. i need help big time.

1983 mariner 150 hp v6, 2 cycle, i mix the oil in the fuel tank, 50/1 ratio.

thanks.

Trouble shooting is what you do first !!------------Put a timight light on cylinder # 1 and wind it up on the lake -----------------Observe the timing light.------------Then try # 2 and see how the ignition behaves.----do all cylinders and make notes if you see interruption of the flashing.---------What does a compression test show.--------What does a spark test show ?? , will spark jump a gap of 7/16" on all 6

thanks alot, i am new to boating, i am just learning step by step. can you tell me what tools do i required to do the troubleshooting that you adviced me to do, i will really appreciated. i just received the fuel pump kit and i will replaced it tomorrow first thing in the morning. mechanic told me that the compression was around 110-115 when he checked it on or about 3 months ago.

i just change the fuel pump kit and it make a big difference. now motor does not die when i gas it up. the issue that is giving me now, is that its not going faster. i already took it mechanic and i will get a response within the next few days to see whats wrong with it. thanks.
