Mariner 15 alternator help

"Does my mariner 15hp 4 stroke

"Does my mariner 15hp 4 stroke outbord engine have an alternator??? I have a 12v battery to start the engine, this i have never needed to charge up with a portable charger. I would also like to add a couple of spot lamps to the load of the battery if i dont have an alternator i would worry this is too much and the battery will go flat. any suggestions please???"

"Andy, if your Mariner 4 stroke (which is actually a Tohatsu) was an electric start model from factory then yes it has an alternator (charging stator) and rectifier/regulator already in place.

In fact a Manaul model would have the charging stator there but would lack the rectifier and harness which is sold as an option from a dealer.

It would have come with a 6 amp system as standard or an optional 10 amp system.

Even with the 6 amp system (which is what I have on my 15 horse 2 stroke Mariner) it keeps the battery well topped up and I run a GPS/Fishfinder and VHF radio(all the time) and the nav lights when running/fishing at night. You should have no issues adding a couple of lights."
