Mariner 135 1992 alarm sounding

This engine has set up for ab

This engine has set up for about 6 months.
It was put away with all gas removed.
It started very easily after adding fuel. Seems to run fine. The alarm horn started beeping. Stopped the engine and checked the oil in the storage tank. Engine temp did not indicate hot.
Started engine. Horn still beeped. Exhaust shows oil smoke. Idled engine to warm up and as temp gage showed 140 the water started out the pee stream. Put my hand on each cylinder and no cylinder felt hotter than any other.

What is the alarm? What can I do?

" is the alarm a steady tone or a beep, beep kind of sound or does it do this only as the key is turned on? I can't remember which but one means the engine is running hot ( I think the steady tone) and the other indicates a problme with your oil delivery (the manual talks about low oil) If you need specifics, I can look it up in my owner's manual. "

" the beeping sound is the oil alarm and a steady sopund will be temp overheat. I had a problem with the alarm system on my 175hp black max and ended up removing the oil system and going to premix. Yes it's a little more hassle but I don't want to burn up a motor. I figured if it doesn't alarm right when it works, what reassurance do I have that it would work when I need it to. Rickracer.com sells a neat little kit for the replacement that comes with the shaft replacement, o-ring and screws all in one so you don't have to chase after parts. Takes less than an hour to remove it and install the new stuff. Good luck, Bill "
 
check the under cowl resovior

check the under cowl resovior for an air pocket and re blead the oil injection system...
