Mariner 115 stalling

1984 Mariner 115 starts and idles great . Once you give it gas it stumbles until about 2000rpm and seems to run ok in a tank not on the lake. I have removed and cleaned the tank and carbs, I think the carbs are adjusted correctly, making them richer doesn't help. Help please...

4 cylinder??? Idle mixture screws on all carburetors??? 2 plus 2 engine????

??-------A 1984 is likely an inline 6 cylinder.

Yes a 6 cyl. I replaced the rectifier and that did help some, disconnecting the red wires from the stator at the switches really made a difference. Which is bad... the stator or the switches?
