I'll guess you mean when you give it more throttle the engine starts to run rough and won't smooth out so you pull back on the throttle to idle speed. What year? What is the serial number? How many cylinders? V or straight cylinder format?

Sounds like its time to overhaul the carbs... But first check compression, then spark... Make sure timer base is rotating its full range (between stops).
Also check your link and sync... If problem now persists... Its time to remove and overhaul the carbs...
Keep in mind these engines did have a slight flat spot at about 1800 rpm when the 2 + 2 kicked it...

checked spark, its ok...priming the fuel primer makes no difference..sprayin fuel in to carb makes no difference either. This is the way this engine has been with 10 years, starts first pick everytime, runs lovely and smooth always til u put the throttle to full speed and then she limits at roughly 2500rpm. When i bring throttle back to half way, she will run away again pure smooth but if u go past half throttle ,its like a limiter kicks in and no matter how far i push the throttle it will not pass the 2500rpm mark.....

PS i removed the 2stroke bottle and pumps out of this engine when i got it 10 yrs ago.Do ye think this would of affected it??

Ok... Next step is to check the stator... A simple ohm test should be enough...
It sounds like the high speed side of your stator is faulty...
Do you have a service manual for this engine?
If you do the test procedures will be in there... otherwise let me know And ill post them...
