I got a service manual for my

I got a service manual for my 1963 merc 110 and i was reading about how to set it up. it says something about using a tachometer to set my carb. does anyone know where i can get a tach to set it up. can i get a cheap one local at autozone or orielly's.

Auto tachs do not work on 2 cycle motors. I do not believe you have a charging system so a regulat matine tach will not work either. Do a search for "Tiny Tach" they make one that will work.

"I've got a go kart tach that works well for 2 or 4 stroke engines. Uses a watch battery and the wire just gets cable tied to number 1 spark plug lead. Mine is a "Kartech" brand, but there would be others. Check on karting websites or kart shops...

I wouldn't advise setting it up as a permanent feature in a marine environment, but works well for diagnostics, prop selection, etc.."
