bought a 1961 10hp seized up good.. so I cut the flywheel up to make a jig.. smaller flywheel on the outside but it fits and all the markings line up... should make it a lot easier to time now..

Glad I did this I had wires rubbing on the fly wheel.. these new coils have real long wires on them compared to the old ones.. gonna shorten them up and make it purdy.. I thought I had them rooted good but I guess not.. and this had nothing to do with it running on only one cylinder.. I replaced the points, coils, etc. and it finally ran on two cylinders for a few seconds only i shut it down cause it has no lower unit on it yet...

I( have always said that the factory timing fixture is a " dummy flywheel "----And here is the proof.-----You can actually use the regular flywheel to set the points.----Hopefully the timing between the 10 and 15 is the same but you can check that easily.

it's spot on.. both of mine are 10's just got done setting up the timing using a test light and a battery.. at .020 the marks were way off, way to far advanced. after I got them set with the light I check the gap and they ended up being about .026

pic of the mag plate from the 61 10hp.. coils junk but see how tight the wiring is..
