magent problem?

I have a Johnson 1976, 2 cycle, 6 hp outboard. my outboard fires on my bottom cylinder at low speed. when I turn up the speed my top cylinder will fire. what can cause this. bad magnet? any other ideas?

NOT a bad magnet. The ones msde since WWII simply never go bad.

Same magnet fires top and bottom.----It is likely a bad coil.----Remove flywheel with proper 3 bolt puller.----Look at coils.

Could be the points too. Try to clean them then reset gap to .020".
