hoping some one may be able to help mercruiser with v8 has not been run for 18 years left in garage run engine up drive noisy near top , oil level ok tried splitting leg from stern undid 6 nuts leg moved 20mm but even after spraying inside with release oil and trying levers unable to remove leg , any suggestions its free to lift up & down but won't pull off , thanks

easiest way is to reattach the rams, place a block of wood between the top cap and transom, SLOWLY operate trim up/trailer increasing the wood thickness

Bt Doctur many thanks I did as you suggested it worked a treat, you saved me a great deal of time & effort , the gimbal bearing seems to be he cause of the noisy drive , many thanks
