Hello everyone. My name is shaun. Let me give you alittle backround on why im such a noob. My grandfather had a 78 monarch with a m1150 merc motor and never told me anything about this motor. He passed on a few years ago and now i have it and its time to get it on the lake again. the two main questions i have is what is the fuel/oil mixture and is there an oil that needs to be changed on it. its been sitting for a very long time. I have to change out the primer pump but this is pretty much my starting point. any help or info or direction you guys could give would be grea. Thank you very much.

Wow thanks. My grandpa replaced the waterpump about 5 months before he died and the boat never saw the lake. as for the gas it was drained out of the motor but not sure how much got out.

"The water pump is rubber, it dry rots, falls apart at the worst time and clogs the engine.It has now taken a permanent setin the housing. It cost $20 and is easy once you've done it. The carbs need to be done, read every other post here and its always about bad fuel and dirty carbs. If no gas goes through the carb no OIL gets to the piston for lube, certain death of gramps pride and joy. It won't fix it self. Watch those videos and enjoy doing it yourself. You can even find stuff on you tube."

I checked everything out. Flushed the fuel system and all. Damn thing runs like its been frozen in time. thanks alot for your info.
