"Help, Idrained my lower unit

"Help, Idrained my lower unit today and I got lots a water. Ijust recently replaced the impeller so I'm wondering if I installed something wrong or if I've got bigger problems. According tomy repair manual it sounds like I need a pressure test of the gearcase. Is this an expensive test or what? Ionly payed $750 for the whole boat and engine."

I got the lower unit off and talked to a local boat repair shop. They said if there is water in the gearcase it is definitely bad seals and I should essentially tear it apart and replace all of the seals. Has anyone tried this on their own before or is it more hassle than it is worth? Unfortunately I don't have all the cool tools that the book recommends for pulling some of the parts out. Any ideas? Iam pretty mechanical but I don't want open a can of worms either.

I figured a way to pull it apart and actually found the replacement parts at my local boat repair shop. I also found the marine doctor website. holy cow what a wealth of information."

"Well I got my lower unit put back together, pressure tested and put back on the boat. All is right with the world at this point. It really wasn't that hard to do."
