"I would drain thoroughly and flush a couple of times with some light oil, an inexpensive automotive engine oil perhaps (when I was working I'd have used steam turbine lube oil!) A short run with no load each time to make sure every thing is well mixed before draining thoroughly and refilling with the correct oil."

if it has sat for months,there will,be damage,but the unit still may last quite a while,as long as it has'nt seized up,or severe damage....short while,flush w/clean lu oil,find the problem."
