how do i disconnect the shift rod

Look underneath the bottom carb and you'll see a disconnect link for the shift rod.

Found link do I losen the nut on rod to get it lose

Look from the starboard side.----A special pin / screw goes through a hole in the shift rod.------A slotted screw with a 3/8" hex head .--------Helps if you use a 1/4" drive long extension on that screw.
