Lower unit oil - quick question from new guy

Sorry for the stupid question but if I check my lower unit oil with the bow sloping down because it is backed into a sloped driveway, will that cause a false high reading on the dipstick?

Does this drive have a year and model number?

It would be best if the drive was vertical.

The oil level will be at the haft way point of the flat area.
Be sure to use new O-rings at both the dip stick and drain plug.

NOTE: you may want to replace the eccentric piston seal if the drive is 10 years old or so.
