lower unit oil 2003 5.0

i would like to change the lower unit oil in my 2000 hurricane 5.0 mer-cruser but there are no drain plugs like my outboard has.how do you drain and change this oil?surely you don't have to drop the lower unit.thanks for any info.

There are drain plugs, below the bullet and at the top of the drive. This link should be for a GEN II drive. see if it matches yours.

the drain plug is at the very bottom of your outdrive, the vent screw is half way up the leg on the left, you need to get a special pump to back fill your leg, its really easy to do and doing yourself will save you a bundle. have a look on youtube, its great, i just changed my gimbel bearing, my mechanic wanted 300 to 350 euro, the bearing cost 45 and and a couple of litres of oil €20 and a pump for a tenner, hey presto
