"1985 25hp Trying to get lower

"1985 25hp Trying to get lower unit off to replace water pump. Shift linkage free, 4 bolts removed, front nut remove. Feels like it is hung up on the front bolt shaft.
Any suggestions. Used a mapp gas tortch to heat but did not free???"

"thats pretty common,...gets corroded. spray w/wd-40 put the nut back on sev threads and tap,use 2 screw drivers to pry down a little,being easy so u dont break something."

Heated and sprayed liquid wrench. Did not drop after prying and banging.
There are not anyother connnections keeping the lower unit attached are there (linkage, 4 bolts, front nut, all removed)???
Before I get mad and start breaking something!"

"thats all there is....if u can get a hacksaw blade in there,saw it off,and then punch it out,but then u will have to deal w/the short piece in LU.try the punch,before cutting."

"I heated really hot last night and sprayed liq.wrench. Let it sit overnight.
Went out this morning and heated and sprayed again, put a crowbar on top of the bolt and pryed and hit the other end of the bar hard and it fell out on the floor, salt water corroded.
Tapped new threads on the bolt and ready to go.
