Lower unit interchange query

Hey guys,

I have a 1995 Merc 2 stroke 60hp 3 cylinder with a cracked lower unit. I have a lead on a donor lower unit from a 2002 Merc 2 stroke 40hp 3 cylinder. I’ve been searching everywhere online to find out if they are compatible but have come up empty handed. Anybody able to confirm whether they’re compatible?

Cross reference the gearcase part numbers on this website to see if they are compatible. 10 minutes will tell you.
