I hope you guys don't get tired of my questions.I never thought that I would encounter so many problems but I'm hell bent on getting this rig in the water. My problem is on my alpha 1 gen 11 ower unit I see quite a bit of oil laying on the top fin of the lower unit.I wipe it off and it still weeps It is obveous that some seal or gasket needs replaced.Any recomendations like do I need to put into any gear before removal? And I notice a shift shaft on a schematic drawing. Does that need a seal or oring. How difficult would it be to install that remote oil supply that keeps the gear case topped off module? Thanks

I had gear oil leaking through the same weep hole a few years ago on a Gen II. It turned out to be #37 in the same diagram. Pressure test the lower to ensure you found the leak. While you have it apart, change all of the seals....cheap insurance. While you have it apart, you may as well change the water pump impellor.

Thanks. I see the weep hole. I wonder why it is there? Thanks for the diagram. Sure makes it easy visualize. I ordered the whole set. I must have goofed. I would like to blame it on someone other them myself.I put it together a few tears ago and it has set since. Hey this old age is no cake walk. They call it the school of hard knocks. Once again thanks.Jerry

I see the diagram of the seal. Is that a weep hole? Why a weep hole.I have ordered the whole seal set. Thanks for taking the effort to send me a diagram I can see you know who you are dealing with. As I told another thread I'm the idiot that put it together a few years ago and it hasn't been run since.Do I need to have it in any particular gear to remove botton unit?I bought this upper and lower and put them together like I said a few years ago.For me every day is a new day.I did this for both outdrives at the same time. Hey I got half of it right.Once again thanks Jerry
