"Hello i just changed the lower end unit oil on a 1980 25horse evinrude motor, i refilled the oil from the top plug, but i just recently heard you should fill from the bottom drain? if so should i drain again and refill?"

"Filling it from the top can cause air bubbles due to the oil being so thick. It can trap air in the lower unit so therefore you don't have as much lube could damage vital components in the lower unit. I would do it again however try and catch the oil in a clean container of some sorts, have to buy the pump set to fill from the bottom. Also when filling from bottom hole take the top one out, also to vent it and when it comes out drain a little out before you put the screw back in ."

Absolutely redo it. You will damage it if you don't. The pump is cheap just make sure you get the correct thread size metric/imperial.

"No need to drain it all. Fill from bottom until the lube flows out the oil lever hole. Replace the top screw to create an air pocket, then pull the tube from the bottom and replace the bottom screw.
