Low water pressure

"I've read the archives and see this problem is fairly common. Looking for some tips on back flushing cooling sys.

I have a 2001 Merc 90 ELPTO. Original owner. Pressure gauge used to read about 8-10 lbs in water at idle or on the hose and about 12 at crusing speed. When it hits 5-7 at idle I relpace the impeller. Last year I relpaced the whole pump.

This year the pressure dropped. 10 lbs if i'm lucky WOT and barely 5 at idle and as low as 3 on the hose. A little mishap with a mud flat the other day shredded my impeller. I aired it out to long (about 10 secs) and when i settled back into deep water there was a pop (sounded like the thermostat) and it shot out a pocket of steam. I fired it back up and let it idle for a min. and to reduce temp. This was not a good time to find out my buzzer was bad, so I don't know if I overheated or not.

Things I've done so far:
new impeller kit (plate, impeller, and gaskets)
new therm w/ seal and poppet and gaskets
removed all external fittings and checked for debri
flushed all hoses and ports with hi press. nozzle from hose

Can anyone give me any ideas or tips on how to find the missing parts of my old impeller. a couple of small specs have flushed but still no good pressure

BTW, I bought a new gauge and use it only for test purposes, both read the same.

Thanks for your help, Mike"
