low speed idle valve..

I have a 1955 15hp fastwin..looking for a low speed needl valve I believe original part # 303945..I DROPPED mine and DAMAGED the tip..after finally getting motor running like a top. Any help would be appreciated
 
I have dressed them up with a drill and sandpaper just chuck it lightly nice and square in a drill and see if yuou can get a nice smooth taper to the tip?
 
I also have on occasion dressed up a damage needle valve tip via a drill press or a hand drill clamped in a vice but I used a file. I checked my remaining stock to see if I might have one left... no such luck.
 
I've looked into part #303946 looks like 1956 10hp used it and a few of these are available..1955 15-18 used 303945..these seem to vanished NLA. both used same bushing. Just wonder if the two are close enough to use since I see 303946 listed to cover 1950's 10-18up.

I understand tapers and length may be different ..
I will try the drill press...can't hurt...just a shame I finally got this motor purring then removed needle valve to put the silencer on..DROPPED it on the floor and bent the point..ugggh

Thanks for looking Joe. And thanks to all for your help..I'm new to these older outboard so I'm all ears
